House of Waine has retained much of the charm of a family home having recently been converted and renovated. It is set in 2.5 acres of quiet gardens in the suburb of Karen, just 30 minutes by car from the centre of Nairobi. The rooms are decorated with traditional African fabrics, and the house is a welcoming hideaway from the bustling capital city.
Guests can wander in the beautiful tropical gardens, relax by the stylish swimming pool or explore the nearby sites including the Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe centre or even arrange a trip into the Nairobi National Park to see rhino, giraffe. hyeanas, plains game and a huge variety of birdlife.
The first class service and exceptional cuisine create an informal yet efficient atmosphere.

Whilst there are no specific childcare facilities at the House of Waine, children are very welcome and earlier meal times can be arranged together with a babysitting service for those that require it.

All the rooms have satellite television, a complimentary mini bar, internet access and direct dial phones. The hotel has a lovely swimming pool in the grounds to relax around. There are a few different locations to eat deliciously prepared meals and both the bars at the pool and the main bar are for the exclusive use of hotel guests.

Being in the suburb of Karen the House of Waine is ideally placed for excursions to the Karen Blixen house and Museum. It is also possible to arrange a trip to Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage, shopping excursions, Nairobi National Park and Giraffe centre.

Although Nairobi is situated in the middle of East Africa, its high altitude—about a mile above sea level—means that the city's climate is mild year-round. Summer months in Nairobi are December through March, Winter months, June through to September. The wettest months are in the Autumn, from March through June. April sees upwards of 8 inches of rain on average. Cloudy, rainy days are common in the Autumn. October through December is the region's second rainy season, where "short rains" bring about 5 inches of rain to the area in November. Otherwise rainfall is pretty scarce, about two inches a month. February sees the most sunshine in Nairobi, with about ten hours of daylight.
