Description

Recalling an era of luxury and quality, Cottar’s 1920s Safari Camp returns to the original spirit and essence of ’’safari’’, reminiscent of a golden era - an era of romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance, in a timelessly unspoilt setting with panoramic views and boundless game. The Cottar’s 1920s Safari Camp is situated in the Maasai Mara, bordering the Serengeti and Loliondo reserves where a few Purko Maasai roam.

The camp accommodates up to fourteen guests in authentic white canvas tents, which are spacious and luxuriously furnished and incorporate original safari antiques from the 20s, private ensuite dressing rooms and bathrooms (with old-fashioned styled tubs, showers and flushing toilets), the main bedroom and an outdoor veranda.

As the concession is outside the game parks, guided walking and night drives are also highly recommended. There is a masseuse at the camp for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures, any other need that guests may have is met by butlers who have been trained to provide discreet, yet attentive service.

Accommodation

The camp accommodates up to 14 guests in authentic white canvas tents, which are spacious and luxuriously furnished and incorporate original safari antiques from the '20's; private en suite dressing rooms and bathrooms (with old-fashioned showers and flushing toilets), the main bedroom and an outdoor veranda.

Childcare

Cottar's 1920 Safari Camp welcomes children but is not suited to very young children and for this reason children must be supervised at all times. Food can be tailored to suit children and earlier meal times can be arranged where necessary. Babysitting can be organised for those that require it.

Activities

Cottar's is outside the game parks, therefore guided walks and night drives are allowed and highly recommended. By walking, guests can get that much closer to nature, and if an opportunity to track wild game presents itself, the expert trackers will take guests even closer. There is a masseuse based full-time at the camp for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures.

Services

Cottar's Camp provides each luxury tent with a butler, all of whom have been trained to provide guests with discreet, yet attentive service.

When to travel

The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.
