Mexico City

Mexico City was built on the site of Tenochtitlan, the ancient Aztec capital. The Zocalo, the Main Square, is located at the centre of the city and is flanked by the Cathedral, the largest and oldest in Latin America and the National Palace, which during colonial rule was the seat of power of the Spanish viceroys. Thirty miles away are the ruins of Teotihuacan that date from about 200 BC. With its 200,000 inhabitants it was one of the largest cities of the ancient world. The ruins include the famous pyramids of the Sun and Moon.
