New Zealand is fast becoming one of the world’s best wine producers and different grape varieties are grown throughout the country to suit the differing climates. To match the incredible wine, New Zealand has some of the best and freshest food available, from incredible seafood to delicious meat, perfectly ripe cheeses and amazing tropical fruits.
Wildlife is in abundance in New Zealand, making it a paradise for any nature lover. Due to the country's relative isolation unique birds, animals and plants have developed here; the best known is the beautiful flightless Kiwi Birds. Away from the land take a trip out to sea to swim with pods of dusky dolphins and watch the mighty whales as they arch their backs whilst playing at sea.
New Zealand is famous for its off the beaten track activities, especially in the South Island which has some of the most stunning wild scenery. Whether you are looking for hiking, biking, sailing, skiing or adrenalin rushes you are looking it is all on offer. For something more sedate take a helicopter ride to a mountain plateau where you can enjoy a gourmet lunch or go fishing for trout.
Best time to go
New Zealand is an all year round destination and has a very varied climate due to its range of geographical areas. The further North you travel the more tropical the climate is.
- January - February – March - April
This is the best time of year throughout the country as they are in their summer months and so there are long warm days and balmy nights.
- May – June – July - August
Autumn is in the air but the tropical north will remain warm during the days and cooler in the evenings. Snow will start falling and the ski season starts in July.
- September - October – November - December
The ski season comes to a close in October and the temperatures start to get warm again in November, making it perfect for travelling for those wanting beautiful spring landscapes and early warm summer days.
