Shompole
Shompole lies at the edge of the Great Rift Valley, on the side of the Nguruman escarpment. There are only eight tent rooms with thatched roofs and incredible views.
Shompole is an unique lodge situated in a 35,000 acre conservancy overlooking riverine forest and sun-baked plains. It is an artistic wilderness retreat and the product of a partnership with the local Maasai people which aims to create self-sustaining tourism.
The camp is perfectly positioned to make the most of the incredible view and the cool breeze. The main lounge and dining area overlook Mount Shompole and provide a wonderful setting to enjoy meals or just to relax during the heat of the day. There are just eight tent rooms with thatched roofs, each with a cool-pool, lounge and bathroom with a view. The variety of landscape at Shompole allows for a great range of activities, from early morning and evening walks, river trips, night drives, sunset visits to Lake Natron to see the flamingoes, pre-historic site visits, learning about the skills and lives of the Maasai, and nights spent out in romantic fly camps.
