Shinde

Shinde is nestled on a lush palm dotted island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. The main camp comprises nine comfortable safari tents on raised decks while The Enclave’s three tents can be exclusively reserved for small groups or families.

Located at the edge of a lagoon, it is surrounded by clear waterways, which flow over yellow sands and past palm-fringed islands teeming with birdlife and game. This is a photographer’s delight. The island is especially favoured by members of the antelope family, including the elusive sitatunga whose elongated and splayed hooves enable it to walk on the unstable beds of reeds floating on the water. The well-equipped delta craft will enable guests to see fascinating breeding colonies of herons, egrets, pelicans and storks. Your guides will also take you walking and for game drives by 4WD vehicle to view big game including lion and cheetah.

The nine large, twin-bedded safari style tents all have an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water and flush toilet with an open ’window’ looking out onto the delta. The public areas are raised on wooden decks and include a stunning open dining room with striking bush chandelier.

Shinde Enclave is a section of the camp that has been developed for private use by small groups or families. The Enclave includes three new tents, a private boma, private bar/dining/lounge area overlooking the lagoon and a waiter/barman specifically assigned to this facility. A senior guide hosts guests and will escort you on private game activities: The minimum stay is for three nights.
