Shela Beach House

Shela Private Houses are a stunning collection of four coastal villas to sooth your soul and refresh your senses. These beautifully designed Arabic houses are all individually furnished and located in the heart of intriguing Shela Village.

Sleeping up to eleven guests, Beach House offers four double and one triple, en-suite bedrooms. On the first floor, raised above beach level, there is an edgeless, freshwater swimming pool. A bar area and low, comfortable baraza seats make it a lovely spot to curl up with a book … or a pre-dinner drink. Up the first flight of stairs is a large dining and living room leading out onto a terrace. Another door leads onto the wooden deck over the pool and to 2 double bedrooms with their own private terraces. The third floor comprises 3 bedrooms and an open terrace. From the rooftop you can enjoy panoramic views of the whole Lamu Channel.

Wander through the tangle of narrow sandy lanes, tall stone houses, mosques, and market stalls that make up Shela, a sleepy village whose inhabitants include gentle donkeys, weathered fishermen, the occasional beach boy and the absorbed visitor. The houses are the epitome of Swahili style, all very different and each equally stunning, sleeping from just 4 to 12 people. They are fully staffed and can be priced with or without catering.
