Ras Kutani is a simple, stylish lodge set in a stand of coastal forest overlooking a fresh water lagoon, on a beautiful stretch of coast to the south of Dar Es Salaam.

Ras Kutani has 12 spacious cottages built from reed matting and palm thatch, all with a huge double bed draped in a white mosquito net, and a verandah full of cushions and a hammock or two. The new Upepo Suites, the Kiswahili word for breeze, are four spacious and airy suites, located canopy high on the hill, with sweeping views of the crescent bay and the jade waters of the Indian Ocean. The suites combine local materials with contemporary African design which remains ecofriendly in its casual luxury. Verandahs come with a private dip pool against an infinity backdrop. Explore the surrounding forest on foot, on horseback, or by boat along the river, or simply relax to the sound to the waves in a hammock on the beach.
