Peponi has been ‘the’ hotel on Lamu for as long as anyone can remember. The hotel has 24 ocean view rooms and is set on the edge of Shela Village at the start of a stunning 13km beach. No two rooms are alike and all are differentiated by their location, size, and private outside area, with five of the rooms directly on the beach. There is a wonderful atmosphere and the hotel is superbly run by Lars and Carol. Peponi serves an abundance of delicious fresh seafood and the small, intimate, open-air bar overlooking the ocean is the perfect place to enjoy it. There is a swimming pool and an excellent choice of water sports, including deep sea fishing, water-skiing, sailing and dhow trips.
