Fundu Lagoon lies on a wild and beautiful beach on Pemba Island, off the coast of Zanzibar. There are 16 spacious thatched and tented rooms, including four suites with plunge pools, see on a raised wooden deck with wonderful ocean views. At high tide, the white sand beach is perfect for swimming, while at low tide the reef is exposed and one can explore miles of unspoilt seashore, with its unique marine and bird life. Nearby lies Mesali Island, an idyllic sand atoll surrounded by some of Africa’s best diving and snorkelling.

• The reef is exposed at low tide and swimming is only possible from the beach at high tide. Swimming is available from the jetty or from one of the nearby islands all day.
