Beho Beho
Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania
One of the largest game reserves in Africa, the Selous offers a unique safari experience encompassing a varied landscape, from forests and plains to lakes and rivers. Beho Beho is a stylish and intimate lodge with just eight spacious thatched bandas.
Beho Beho, meaning “gentle breeze”, is situated in the cooler highlands of the Selous Game Reserve and is the perfect safari refuge for those guests looking for a combination of untouched wilderness, outstanding hospitality and expert guiding. The main lodge includes a large open sided lounge/dining area and, together with the cocktail bar and ’billiards room’, it provides a sophisticated setting for post safari relaxation. The raised swimming pool and decking is an ideal place to cool off during the heat of the day.
Accommodation consists of eight open-fronted guest bandas built of local stone and palm leaf thatch, with ensuite facilities including an open-air shower. Each spacious banda has a lounge area and private verandah with magnificent views over the woodland, open glades and gorges below. From the lodge, guests can explore a unique combination of habitats, including riverine forest, miombo woodland, open plains and the fascinating lake regions of Tagalala and Mwanze. As well as game drives, guided walking safaris are a speciality and usually undertaken in the early morning or late afternoon. There are also a number of boats stationed at Lake Tagalala, which provide an opportunity to view the resident hippos and crocodiles at close quarters, as well as an amazing number of birds.
