Amanjiwo
Java, Indonesia
Amanjiwo on the island of Java is an exclusive base from where to explore the mystical Buddhist Temple sites of Borobudur and Prambanan.
Amanjiwo is a stunning property in the rural heartland of Central Java. It is located within a natural amphitheatre, with the limestone Menoreh Hills rising directly behind, the Kedu Plain to the front and four volcanoes – Sumbing and Sundoro to the west and on the eastern horizon, Merbabu and Merapi.
Amanjiwo looks out onto Borobudur, the largest Buddhist sanctuary in the world and the architecture and style of the hotel reflects this. The main building is framed by 36 suites arrayed in two deep crescents. All suites include a thatched-roof kubuk (pavilion) with a daybed for outdoor lounging and dining. Interiors include a four-pillar bed on a raised terrazzo platform, coconut wood and rattan furniture, traditional glass paintings and a sunken outdoor bathtub.
