About me
I first visited Africa during a university summer when I went to Cape Town to do research for my dissertation. Little did I know then that their winter was our summer! So as soon as I finished I hopped on the first plane to Mozambique for some much needed sunshine and from then I was hooked. I returned to Africa with some friends with whom I climbed Kilimanjaro, found an amazing music festival on Lake Malawi and discovered how 3 days can easily turn into 14 in Zanzibar. Most recently I had an incredible two weeks exploring Kenya from top to bottom and trekking with gorillas in Uganda, which was simply awesome - nothing beats sitting with King Kong in the cloud forest for 45 minutes!
Favourite places I’ve been
Colombia: Trekking to Ciudad Perdida, incredible beaches, coffee plantations, rafting, mud volcanoes
Brazil: Capirinhas, nightlife, surfing, beaches, food.
Panama: Vibrant city, incredible canal, San Blas island hopping
New Caledonia: Deserted paradise in its truest form.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands: Untouched idyllic beaches and clear blue sea
Tahiti: The definitive "bungalow on stilts" destination
Zanzibar: Diving, sunbathing, cultural, stunning sunsets
Uganda: Gorillas, cloud forest, amazing views, vibrant markets
Kenya: Game viewing, sunsets, bush breakfasts, kite surfing, luxury camping.
Guatemala: Mayan ruins, volcanoes, cobbled streets, colourful markets, waterfalls

Travel nuggets
Never take a snickers bar as a reward to eat when you make it to the top of Kilimanjaro, it freezes and no matter how much you may want it, you can't have it. Instead pack some serious sunblock to save yourself the pain of burning like we did at 7am!
Take a hot air balloon safari over the Maasai Mara. Watching the sunrise above and animals below was one of the most relaxing yet exciting things I have done. Made all the better by a champagne breakfast with all the trimmings on landing in the middle of the game reserve.
Don’t shy away from destinations that require long flights even if it’s just for a short holiday. A day in an amazing place instantly makes you feel like have been away for far longer, and a few days can feel like weeks.
My hot picks
Saruni Samburu: Driving up what was literally a bare rock face I had my doubts, until I arrived. Perched on top of an escarpment is this stunning safari lodge with incredible views, an infinity pool from where you can watch elephants at the watering hole and delicious Italian food.
Virunga Lodge: Arrive in style by helicopter and feel like you are landing on top of Rwanda. Surrounded by volcanoes and lakes the views really are breathtaking. An incredible place to relax after a long trek.
