About me
I’ve always been a travel nut, and have been travelling as long as I can remember. It made sense for me to work in the industry, as I love recommending special out-of-the-way places, and seeing others enthused as I am by things that have meant a lot to me. Latin America and the Indian sub-continent are my passions. I have a family with a gorgeous two-year-old daughter, who is being schooled in travel the same way I was, and will, I fear, cost me a fortune as she grows up!
Favourite places I’ve been
Brazil – the amazing vibrancy, diversity and beaches keep pulling me back
Argentina – epic landscapes, passion, hospitality and great food – what’s to dislike?
Bolivia – a compellingly beautiful country, and I saw my first jaguar here
Guyana – South America as it used to be – simply magnificent!
Belize – laid-back people, great wildlife, Mayan temples and wonderful coral reefs
Travel nuggets
01. For an authentic Brazilian island paradise, consider Boipeba in Bahia for its friendly villagers, heart-stopping beaches, charming accommodation options and fresh lobster.
02. Although many travellers to Peru give Lima as wide a berth as possible, this is a mistake. Sensational seafood restaurants, world-class museums and a thriving nightlife in Barranco make it well worth an extra day or two.
03. A recent find from my trip to Mexico in June – Patzcuaro, a gorgeous colonial town in the highlands where Indian culture is thriving, and which has possibly my favourite secret hotel in the world.

01. The Faena, Buenos Aires – for its sheer exuberance, style and the smile it will leave on your face. Also has the best tango show in town bar none.
02. The Casa Real de Aduana, Patzcuaro, Mexico – the French and Mexican couple who own it have created a beautiful world filled with art, culture and warmth
03. Esencia on Mexico’s Riviera Maya – my favourite beach on this stretch of coast, understated sophistication and a place that simply makes you feel happy
