"I've been travelling since I was one month old."
About me
I’m really lucky to have been travelling from the age of around one month old, spending the early part of my life between school in London, the hills of Northern Italy and the souks of Morocco. Travel has always been in my blood and I have always ‘escaped’ at every opportunity, whether trekking in the Himalayas or backpacking through Southeast Asia with friends.
I joined Scott Dunn over five years ago now, spending the first three years specialising in Indian and Arabian destinations, before moving across to places in Asia, Australasia and the South Pacific, to develop my knowledge and love of the area further.
Favourite places I’ve been
Thailand – beaches, smiles, happiness, palm trees, fun, pad thai
India – mesmerising, colourful, crazy, busy, traffic, curry
Bhutan – welcoming, untouched, unknown, secret, spiritual, don’t tell anyone
Cambodia – temples, history, culture, interesting, monks
Mexico – tequila, colours, music, dancing, mariachis
Morocco – souks, spices, camels, carpets, shopping, medina
Bali – beautiful, gentle, jungle, spiritual, calm, beaches
Italy – home, friendly, rustic, prosecco, genuine, good life
Maldives – tiny islands, beaches, 5* hotels, snorkelling, expensive, unique
Hong Kong – mental, skyscrapers, fast-paced, rich, exhilarating
Sri Lanka – rugged, tea, hills, quiet, colonial
Travel nuggets
01. Take an eye mask on long flights. There’s nothing more annoying than being woken up by the lights being turned on for breakfast, two hours before you land!
02. The trek up to Tiger’s Nest in Bhutan is probably the most amazing thing I have ever done. The spirituality and mystery that surrounds the monastery at the top is fascinating and the views are stunning. It should be on everyone’s ‘To Do’ list.
03. Visit the souks in Morocco in the early evening. Most shopkeepers will not show up until around 5pm and it’s far too hot to visit before then.
My hot picks
01. Six Senses Ninh Van Bay – my favourite Six Senses hotel (I ‘ve been lucky enough to stay at most of them!). The setting is stunning with your two-storey pool villa right on the white sandy beach and steps away from the crystal clear waters of the South China Sea. Pure relaxation!
02. Rasananda – the first luxury hotel to open on the party island of Koh Phangan. Perfect for those looking to re-visit their backpacking days but staying in the only ‘smart’ hotel on the beach.
03. Amansara – the number one address in the hotel haven of Siem Reap. The guides there are the best in town and excel in beating the crowds visiting Angkor Wat. I managed to spend an hour amongst the eerie faces of Bayon with only my guide and a photographer for company.
