Britain's seaside resorts might be "nostalgic" and "iconic" as VisitEngland claims in its latest marketing campaign, but what they certainly are not is tropical or sun-kissed.
So while you might be able to stroll along the promenade, buy some fish and chips and build some sandcastles in the wet sand in Blackpool or Skegness, what you can't do is enjoy spectacular snorkelling, kick back with a cocktail under a palm tree or venture into the water without a wetsuit (unless you're mad)....
