Why horse riding trips can make for a truly memorable holiday

If coming face to face with an elephant or rhino during an African safari holiday isn't exhilarating enough as it is, imagine doing so while sat on the back of a horse.

Riding trips allow travellers to truly be at one with nature and galloping through the Okavango Delta in Botswana or South Africa's Waterberg Reserve is an amazing experience.

There are few better ways to see Africa's most exotic creatures and holidaymakers often feel a unique connection with the animals when they come up alongside them on horseback.

Of course, horse riding tours are not restricted to Africa.

Adventure travel expert Ben Fogle recently wrote in the Daily Telegraph that there are plenty of wonderful countries that are best explored on the back of a horse.

"You could inch closer to the big five in Botswana, see Wadi Rum at a canter, herd cattle in the Argentine pampas or trot through villages in rural India," he wrote in the newspaper.

Argentina is one destination that definitely stands out, as visitors can wander the South American country's rich green pastures at their leisure.
