Zambia has an array of fascinating museums
Although it is renowned as a superb safari hotspot, Zambia is certainly not just about the wildlife.
The country has a rich cultural history and this is displayed in numerous museums throughout the fascinating African nation.
One place that has more than its fair share of exhibitions is Livingstone - the town named after explorer David Livingstone, who trekked across Africa to find the source of the River Nile.
No luxury holiday in Zambia is complete without visiting the Livingstone Museum, which has four different galleries - prehistoric, ethnography and art, history and natural history.
There is an extensive collection of the great adventurer's belongings and descriptions of the routes he took when he embarked on his epic journey to Zambia.
Livingstone is also home to the Railway Museum - which features actual trains that were used in Zambia through the years - and the interesting Maramba Cultural Museum. The latter was set up to preserve the arts, crafts and culture of Zambia and is well worth a visit.
