Cape Town wine show set to be a memorable occasion

A visit to the famous Cape Winelands is a vital part of any luxury holiday in South Africa.

The country's wine industry is the ninth largest in the world and its history can be traced back to the 17th century.

Some amazing tipples are produced in this stunning part of the Western Cape and tourists are always welcome to walk around the multitude of vineyards and wineries that the area is renowned for.

This year promises to be a vintage one for the industry, as the highly anticipated Cape Wine 2012 event will go ahead between 25th and 27th September.

Speaking to The Drinks Business, chief executive officer at Wines of South Africa Su Birch said the trade fair - which is returning for the first time since 2008 - will be a memorable occasion.

As well as incorporating a Wine Tourism Show, the exhibition will also focus on promoting environmentally-friendly wines.

Indeed, Ms Birch described the event as the "first green wine show ever", while adding that the fair - which is based at the Cape Town International Convention Centre - will be very different to previous versions.
