Zermatt continues to offer fine dining to skiiers
Zermatt - which is most famous for its luxury ski experiences - is also a hotspot for people who like to sample the finer things in life.
Having spent all day on the many challenging slopes that the Swiss resort has to offer, plenty of winter sports enthusiasts like to replenish their energy levels by dining at one of the many top-quality restaurants that line the streets.
Zermatt is building quite a reputation for its gastronomic excellence and it appears that this is not confined to the peak winter seasons.
It is scheduled to host the Swiss Food Festival 2012 later this year and some of the best chefs around will be on hand to showcase their impressive cooking skills.
According to tourism leaders, Zermatt boasts 18 eateries that feature in the prestigious Gault Millau Switzerland restaurant guide and chefs from each establishment will be heavily involved in the event.
The quality of the resort's hotels was also highlighted recently, when 11 establishments were included in Zurich-based Sunday newspaper SonntagsZeitung's list of top 50 winter hotels.
