Zambia aims to attract one million tourists in 2012
With an array of wildlife roaming around its beautiful unspoilt landscapes, it is unsurprising that luxury holidays in Zambia are so widely sought after.
The nation is a hotbed for some of the world's rarest creatures and the country benefits greatly from the location of the Zambezi and Kafue Rivers, which are magnets to many animals.
According to the Times of Zambia, the Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) is hoping to see one million people visit the African country in 2012 and is willing to invest heavily in marketing.
Indeed, the organisation will commit K10 billion (£1.2 million) to promotional campaigns that will highlight the stunning sights on offer throughout the land. A number of roadshows, corporate events and advertisements will be launched.
The ZTB stated that visitor numbers for 2011 are likely to be calculated and published in March. The country received 815,000 tourists in the previous year, as more and more people started to recognise Zambia's significant charms.
