Wadi Rum set to hold high-profile dance festival
Many people who embark on a luxury holiday in Jordan are desperate to see Wadi Rum.
Also known as the Valley of the Moon, it is a unique valley that is cut into sandstone and granite rock in the south of the country.
Although it is extremely popular all year round, Wadi Rum is set to receive a significant boost to its visitor numbers in 2012 when the Distant Heat dance festival takes place.
The all night party is held in the desert surrounding Wadi Rum every summer and it attracts some of the most recognised dance music artists in the world.
Following the event, tourists then head to the coastal region of Aqaba, where a number of beach parties are held.
Such high-profile festivals reiterate the importance of Wadi Rum to Jordan's tourism industry and thousands of people head to the region in order to camp under the stars and ride horses around the unspoilt desert.
