Visitors flocked to Kruger National Park in December

Wildlife enthusiasts have been visiting Kruger National Park in their droves for the past month, representatives at the reserve have confirmed.

The area - which is a firm favourite among those who take luxury holidays in South Africa - continues to be a hit with the locals too, the New Age reports.

It has proved increasingly popular since temperatures started to rise across the country, as the summer months are the perfect time to spot the big game that roams the park.

The region is home to a vast array of animals, including the so-called "Big Five" - rhinos, leopards, elephants, buffalo and lions - making it an ideal place to take amazing photographs.

However, Kruger National Park is not the only attraction that has been appealing to visitors in recent weeks.

Bosses in charge of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway recently told Eye Witness News that the beautiful weather led to a surge in visitor numbers to Cape Town's most famous geological feature in December.
