Thousands to attend arts festival in 'charming' Western Cape

Tourism chiefs are expecting thousands of people to attend an arts festival in a "charming" part of the Western Cape later this year.

The Klein Karoo National Arts Festival will be held between 31st March and 7th April and is expected to appeal to locals and people taking luxury holidays in South Africa.

Some of the country's best creative talent will be on hand to put on dance, theatre, music and visual arts productions.

In 2011, more than 130,000 tickets were sold for hundreds of different performances in the host town of Oudtshoorn and the demand for places is expected to be high once again this year.

This will be the 18th annual festival, which started out as a small event and has snowballed every year since.

The Klein Karoo National Arts Festival is one of many large scale occasions scheduled for 2012, as the annual Easter Festival in Johannesburg - which goes ahead in April - is also expected to attract thousands of visitors.
