Tanzanian travel officials keen to promote beautiful beaches

Travel officials are keen to promote Tanzania's vast array of beautiful beaches to tourists.

The country is blessed with mile after mile of stunning coastline, but according to the tourist board, these are being overlooked by holidaymakers who regard the nation primarily as a safari hotspot.

In an attempt to get more people who have embarked on a luxury holiday in Tanzania onto the beaches, the government will spend five billion shillings (£1.3 million) on making improvements to coastal areas to make them even more appealing to visitors. The project will be conducted over the next five years.

Tourism representatives stated that important national monuments and museums that offer people a fascinating insight into Tanzania's history are already open to tourists in coastal resorts.

Holidaymakers will find that Dar es Salaam is an ideal place to visit if they want to combine a cultural trip with a relaxing sunbathing holiday, as the capital city is in close proximity to a number of stunning beaches.
