Tanzanian attractions could be showcased in India

Indian travellers could be tempted to take luxury holidays in Tanzania if a deal is struck between tourism chiefs and two film companies.

Leaders at Akqua Tourism Destinations Private Limited are hoping to complete an agreement with two Mumbai-based film crews, which would see the country used as a backdrop for some Indian TV programmes, the Guardian on Sunday reports.

Director at the organisation Jilesh Babla believes India is a relatively untapped market and many people in the Asian country are unaware of the vast array of luxurious holidays that are available across Tanzania.

He is particularly keen for filming to take place in some of the nation's many national parks in order to highlight the various safari opportunities that are on offer.

"In India the target audience is the growing middle class and high-end premium or luxury segment travellers, and as you can see Tanzania has products to suit both these segments," Mr Babla was reported as saying.

Such is the growing popularity of Tanzanian holidays, plans are afoot to build a third terminal at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, the East African reports.
