Southern Madagascar 'is a surfing wonderland'

outhern Madagascar 'is a surfing wonderland'

People wanting the best water sports experience when taking a luxury holiday in Madagascar should head to the south of the island.

Tourism officials have dubbed this part of the country "a surfing wonderland" and have insisted that the lively conditions will ensure that people never get bored.

There are hundreds of kilometres of reefs and bays stretching up the Mozambique Channel, which means surfers are spoilt for choice when looking for the ideal spot to catch waves.

"Heading north from Fort Dauphin much of Madagascar's East Coast could be described as a featureless wave desert," a tourism spokesperson noted.

"Long straight beaches tend only to be interrupted by river-mouths," they added.

While the south is heaven for surfers, tourism officials stated that north and eastern regions such as Nosy Be are better suited for scuba diving because of the beautiful marine life that lives in these areas.

With 5,000km of coastline, it is not difficult to see why Madagascar is so popular among tourists, who love to relax on the stunning beaches.
