Okavango Delta 'one of the most sought after destinations'
There are few places in the world that offer better safari opportunities than the Okavango Delta.
People taking luxury holidays in Botswana generally see the region as one of the highlights of their trip thanks to its huge array of wildlife.
In fact, tourism chiefs in the African country believe the Delta offers "heart-stopping excitement" to all visitors, not just those who have a passion for animals and nature.
One stand-out characteristic of the region - which is at the heart of the Kalahari Basin - is the diversity of the landscapes, as the terrain changes from wetland to dryland in the blink of an eye.
"A journey to the Okavango Delta - deep into Africa's untouched interior - is like no other," a tourism representative commented.
Last month, director of the African country's Department of National Museums and Monuments Gaogakwe Phorano told Mmegi Online that the organisation was hoping to secure World Heritage status for a number of attractions throughout Botswana, including the Makgadikgadi Pans.
