More Indians taking luxury holidays in South Africa
An increasing number of Indian citizens are taking luxury holidays in South Africa, it has been revealed.
Speaking to the Press Trust of India, South African tourism minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk suggested that recent promotional campaigns, which highlighted the beauty and diversity of the country to an Indian audience, proved to be successful.
He stated that 70,000 people from the Asian country visited South Africa in 2011 and is hopeful this number will grow sharply in the next few years.
South Africa is appealing to holidaymakers all around the world, with areas such as Cape Town proving particularly popular.
"With this growing interest in South Africa as an adventure and holiday destination we expect about 100,000 visitors from India by 2014," commented Mr Van Schalkwyk.
A large number of tourists are expected to head to the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival in the Western Cape, which is being held between 31st March and 7th April. More than 130,000 people attended the 2011 version of the event.
