Jordan 'an ideal place to learn about religious history'

Travellers taking a luxury holiday in Jordan will notice that the country is becoming increasingly modern in its outlook, but its people are still proud of their religious heritage.

The country's population is predominantly from the Sunni Muslim faith, but there are also a large number of Christians.

According to tourism chiefs, evidence of Jordan's religious history can be seen in various places throughout the nation. Many landmarks that have a historical significance have been made more accessible to the public, they claim.

This includes unique sites that have been identified as places where miracles have been performed.

"Jordan is an ideal destination for those seeking cultural knowledge and spiritual enrichment," a spokesperson for the tourism board noted. "Jordan values its ethnically and religiously diverse population," they added.

As well as finding out about the roots of religion, visitors to the Middle Eastern nation can also immerse themselves in the history of various settlers - including the Romans.

Jerash is perhaps the best place for this, as it is home to striking examples of Roman architecture.
