Elephant conservation projects will protect animals in Zambia

A number of projects aimed at protecting elephants around the world will be funded by the International Elephant Foundation (IEF) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

The IEF has committed $225,000 (£145,000) to safeguard the creatures in numerous countries across the globe in 2012.

People who are planning to take a luxury holiday in Zambia will undoubtedly see plenty of the huge animals during their stay, particularly at the world renowned Kafue National Park.

Elephants that live in this area will be among the animals that will directly benefit from the new projects, as greater anti-poaching surveillance efforts will be funded.

As well as this, some of the cash will be spent on developing ways to cure the EEHV infection, which can be fatal to the creatures.

Tourism leaders in Zambia believe the Kafue National Park has the greatest diversity of wildlife of any reserve across Africa and the new efforts to protect elephants will only enhance its glowing reputation.
