2012 Easter Festival expected to be bigger than ever

Travellers taking a luxury holiday in South Africa in April may encounter the annual Easter Festival in Johannesburg, which organisers believe will be bigger than ever in 2012.

Otherwise known as the Rand Show, the event will start on 6th April and run until the 15th. Held at the recently regenerated Expo Centre, a whole host of exhibitors will attend the show.

Entertainment - in the form of concerts, a circus and numerous world record attempts - has been lined up to keep the thousands of visitors happy.

Organisers have labelled the event South Africa's largest consumer retail platform and they were buoyed by the huge popularity of the 2011 expo.

As well as attracting 28 per cent more exhibitors than previous years, visitor numbers were also up by 40 per cent, with 245,000 people attending the festival.

Easter Monday will also be celebrated at Nelson Mandela Square, with visitors set to be treated to a performance from the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra.
