Shanghai is "paradise" for luxury travellers

Shanghai is

Shanghai is one of the most vibrant cities in the world and is fast becoming a firm favourite among luxury holidaymakers.

Members of the China National Tourist Office believe it is "paradise" for people who like to sample the finer things in life.

The metropolis has more than 1,000 restaurants, many of which serve up all 16 different regional varieties of Chinese food. As you would expect from such a big city, eateries that specialise in cuisine from all around the world can also be found very easily.

Shanghai is a haven for travellers who have a passion for designer clothes and Nanjing Road - known as "China's No.1 Street" - should be your first port of call when indulging in some retail therapy.

Many people are also surprised by the number of secluded green spaces throughout the city and it is very easy to get away from the crowds for some peace and quiet once you have done all of your shopping.

"In Shanghai you have the world at your fingertips," the tourism authority states.
