My best ever holiday was in Mauritius, says legendary Olympian

Great Britain has been gripped by Olympic fever over the past few weeks and many people will be sad to see the sporting showpiece come to an end.

Plenty of the nation's triumphant athletes will be heading abroad for a well deserved break and there are lots of luxury holiday destinations for them to choose from.

Daley Thompson - one of Britain's greatest ever Olympians - has travelled all over the world and he told the Daily Telegraph that the best holiday he has ever had was in Mauritius.

The double Olympic decathlon champion said he has very fond memories of the island and it was an ideal place for a family getaway.

"My kids had the best time and they still talk about it now. The people in Mauritius are really friendly and the weather is balmy," he was quoted as saying.

Mauritius - which is renowned for its gorgeous secluded beaches, crystal clear waters and wonderful climate - is also a very romantic destination and is perfect for couples.
