Tokyo set to hold major arts festival

Many people are surprised by the sheer number of art galleries strewn across Tokyo.

The Japanese capital has built up a strong reputation as an art and design hub in recent years and there are hundreds of fantastic exhibitions held throughout the city.

Many of the best galleries and museums can be found in the Shimbashi region of the metropolis and there are paintings to suit all tastes.

Travellers who have booked a luxury holiday in Japan next month will also be able to take in a unique festival that celebrates the Asian country's passion for art.

The Design Festa is scheduled to go ahead between 12th and 13th May at Tokyo Big Sight, which is a giant, state-of-the-art exhibition centre.

Artists from all over the world descend on the Far East to showcase their latest works and visitors will also be entertained by up to 20 live musical acts while they explore the huge collection of paintings.
