Gearing up for South Africa's Oppikoppi festival

South Africa is undoubtedly one of the most culturally exciting countries on the planet. Cape Town is world famous for its thriving art and music scenes, but it is not the only place to go to see up-and-coming bands and artists.

In fact, you can get your fill of pop culture while in one of the most beautiful, rural spots on Earth at the Oppikoppi music festival.

In its 18th year, Oppikoppi has become a staple on the calendar of anyone interested in live music in the Limpopo Province.

Starting out as a rock gathering back in 1995 - when it was aptly titled the Festival or Rock 1 - Oppikoppi has branched out, welcoming musicians from practically every genre over the years, with relatively recent additions of a hip hop and dance music stage.

The annual festival rolls around on 9th August and runs for three days - so if you are taking a luxury holiday in South Africa then, look out for tickets.

This year's theme is Sweet Thing, but details - as ever - are only available at the last minute.
