Elephant polo event set to begin in Thailand
Travellers enjoying luxury holidays in Thailand will have the chance to take in a fascinating and stylish event during their trip.
The 2011 King's Cup Elephant Polo tournament began in the royal seaside town of Hua Hin on September 5th 2011, situated 200 km south of Bangkok.
Over the coming week, the event will see a host of teams taking on the challenge of winning the coveted title on September 12th.
In total, 12 teams have been put forward to take on the challenge of earning the prize, with organisations such as Audemars Piguet, Mercedes Benz and British Airways/American Express sponsoring groups of competitors.
Funds raised from this year's event will be donated to charities, including those which use elephants to help in the treatment of children with autism.
Thailand was recently noted by writer Jane Ormond for providing travellers with pockets of paradise which will suit everyone's individual tastes.
