Zanzibar 'home to pristine beaches and great surf'

Holidaymakers planning a luxury beach holiday in Tanzania could find that Zanzibar offers them a wealth of choice.

The stunning island is steeped in history, but it is its pristine coastline which often provides the most alluring draw for visitors.

Boasting that Zanzibar offers some of the best coastlines in the world, the Tanzania Tourist Board states that the type of beach holiday you enjoy will vary depending on which area of the island you choose.

"On the east coast, waves break over coral reefs and sand bars offshore and low tide reveals small pools of starfish, small minnows and anemones," the tourist organisation stated.

However, for those who prefer relaxing in the sunshine, the north of the island is home to inviting, smooth white sands and plenty of places to unwind.

Travellers who decide to explore the cultural heritage of Zanzibar may find a visit to the capital Stone Town is a fascinating experience. It is home to a plethora of incredible ancient buildings and fragrant spice markets.
