Travellers taking a luxury safari holiday in Namibia could be planning to head to Damaraland to witness its incredible landscape.

Situated in the north-west of the country, the region is host to some incredible sights, with Namibia Tourism noting that Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest and the Skeleton Coast exemplify the country's stark beauty.

To adapt to this unforgiving landscape, both the people and the wildlife have adopted unique habits which could interest visitors.

While the native Himba people have found that covering their skin with the vibrant red earth protects them from the sun's rays, the elephants have adapted their behaviour to cope with the sunshine.

Visitors can also experience the incredible prehistoric rock paintings and engravings in Twyfelfontein, which was given UNESCO protected status in 2007, making it the first location in Namibia to receive the honour.
