The Eastern Cape is 'a land of diversity'

Travellers enjoying a luxury safari in South Africa could get a taste of the rich and varied landscapes to be found in the country by spending time on the Eastern Cape.

The area is one of rugged natural beauty, with the South African tourism authority explaining that the region offers snow-capped mountains in the Drakensberg through to great surfing along the coast of the Indian Ocean - and everything in between.

It added that one of the great attractions of the region is that travellers can search for the big five and go whale and dolphin watching during the same trip.

"Its natural diversity is second to none. The Eastern Cape incorporates parts of all seven ecological zones that occur in South Africa and features all three of the country's biodiversity regions," the authority added.

Holidaymakers in search of a taste of true South African culture could also enjoy the annual National Arts festival, which is held in Grahamstown during June and July.
