Awards highlight quality of Cape Town eateries
A fine selection of quality restaurants await tourists who take luxury holidays in South Africa.
The recent Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards highlighted the huge array of top eateries that the country has to offer, with Cape Town a particular hotspot for culinary excellence.
Sponsored by Eat Out magazine, the awards ceremony was held at the Bay Hotel in the city and organisers of the event said the accolades represent a yardstick for quality dining.
A panel of judges, as well as 75,000 readers, voted for their favourite establishments and the Greenhouse - based in Cape Town - was named the Restaurant of the Year.
The Chef of the Year prize was given to Luke Dale Roberts of the Test Kitchen, which is also situated in the city.
South African chef Reuben Riffel recently joined a campaign aimed at showcasing the country's gastronomic excellence to the people of Germany by staging live cooking demonstrations at the popular German lifestyle event Eat + Style.
