Tailor made holidays: India 'offers a range' of different attractions

India is vast and varied, according to the tourism ministry

India is an experience and one which cannot be completed during a single visit, according to the country's Ministry of Tourism.

Speaking at a press conference for Incredible India, Rajen Habib Khwaja, secretary at the Ministry of Tourism in India, noted that the country was a year round destination and that people would find that one tailor made holiday was not enough to explore what was on offer.

"Besides the fantastic cultural and heritage tourism products, India today offers a range of new products in adventure and sports tourism, both soft and hard," he said.

"One can go for mountaineering in the Himalayas or white water river rafting in Ganges or discover the Valley of Flowers at one's own leisurely pace."

He added that over the coming years, India's regions will play greater importance as the ministry tries to promote rural tourism in the country.

Figures published recently by STR Global found that India's hotel industry is set to see a large growth over the coming months, as more places of accommodation are built.
