Morocco offers luxury food and drink to travellers

Couples looking at destinations for a luxury honeymoon holiday should consider visiting Morocco, as the country is perfect for people looking for sumptuous opulence.

Author and journalist Hermione Eyre travelled to the north African country and wrote in the Evening Standard about the country's "deeply stylish" restaurants.

There are many great traditional eateries in many different regions of the country, offering classic dishes from both in Moroccan cuisine and colonial French food.

Ms Eyre also reserved special praise for the country's hotels, which are lavish and ideal for people on honeymoons.

"Its luxury makes you feel like a grand vizier. You wander through enchanting … to your own private three-storey riad," she said.

"The traditional Moroccan artisanal work is effortlessly chic - the gaudy hotels of Dubai simply can't compete."

Morocco is part of the Maghreb region of Africa, along with other north African countries such as Tunisia and Algeria, which also have ties to French culture and cuisine.
