Tailor made holidays: Turkey offers 'culture and history'

People looking for tailor made holidays will discover that Turkey offers fantastic beaches and sites, as well as a fine cultural tradition.

Tolga Tuyluoglu, who is the director for the United Kingdom and Ireland at Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, said that the inhabitants of the country are known as being very friendly towards tourists.

"As well as having fantastic beach resorts, Turkey also provides plenty of history and a rich culture to explore," he said.

"The Turkish people are very friendly and welcoming to foreign guests and that can really make the difference between an average holiday and a really great one."

The director of the tourism board also mentioned that Turkey has a high proportion of return visitors to the country, proving its allure.

Many cultural attractions in Turkey are based around the capital of Istanbul, which straddles Europe and Asia. Last year, the European Union named Istanbul as one of the European capitals of culture.
