Lima offers people on tailor made views of some of the most "fabulous" sunsets in the world.

That is according to Hugh Thomson, who - writing about his experience in the Peruvian capital for The Daily Telegraph - said the sunsets have a distinct and classic "Californian" quality.

"Lima must have one of the most fabulous sunsets in the world," he writes.

"It helps, of course, that the city faces due west across the Pacific, so the setting sun can flood into the beaches and pick out the last surfers elegantly essaying a few lines."

The writer went on to recommend ceviche, a mainstay of the country's cuisine, which has recently found popularity among the world's top restaurants such as Nobu. The dish of raw fish cooked in citric acid can be found widely around Peru's capital.

People on tailor made holidays in the Peruvian capital will be able to take in sites such as the Historic Centre of Lima, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
