Luxury Mediterranean holiday villas: People in the Mediterranean should try the 'healthy food'
People planning to stay in luxury Mediterranean holiday villas should ensure they eat the local food while they are on holiday, as the cuisine is some of the healthiest in the world.
That is according to Carina Norris, a nutrition consultant, who said that the Mediterranean diet high in fruit, vegetables, nuts and moderate consumption of meat is "good for the body".
"Olive oil is a rich source of monounsaturated fats, which have a beneficial effect on our blood cholesterol, and so reduce our risk of heart disease and stroke," she said.
"And oily fish, like mackerel and sardines, are rich in the polyunsaturated fats, known as omega-3 essential fatty acids, which also help with our cholesterol levels."
If people partake in light exercise, such as walking or swimming, while staying in a luxury Mediterranean holiday villa, they can enjoy the joys of a trip without the dread of returning home with an expanded waistline.
