Adventure holiday makers in Australia 'must experience' Uluru

Uluru could be one of the new wonders of the world

Tailor made holidays in Australia would not be complete without a visit to Uluru, then vast rock formation which is in the running to become one of the new seven natural wonders of the world.

According to Tourism NT, which is responsible for promoting holidays in the region of Australia that Uluru is based (the Northern Territory), the sandstone rock formation is Australia's most iconic natural site.

Uluru - otherwise known as Ayers Rock - is currently one of 28 finalists vying for one of the openings in the New Seven Wonders of Nature competition.

Paul Henderson, chief minister of the Northern Territory, encouraged people to vote for Uluru.

"It's a great opportunity to vote for our icon and to reinforce the message that the Red Centre is a must-experience destination," he said.

Other finalists in the running for the new seven wonders titles include the Amazon, the Galapagos Islands, and Mount Kilimanjaro.
