Tailor made holidays: Sheer size of the Philippines help make it a top destination

The Philippines is home to many different attractions

People planning tailor made holidays should consider travelling to the Philippines, as the south-east Asian island nation has variety due to its size.

Made up of a staggering 7,107 islands, the Philippines is the second largest archipelago in the world, behind the nearby destination of Indonesia.

According to the Department of Tourism at the Embassy of the Philippines, this size means the country lends itself to people planning tailor made holidays.

Chit Afuang, the officer-in-charge at the tourism department, noted that the country is beautiful, as well as big.

"The Philippines has one of the most attractive landscapes, with numerous UNESCO world heritage sites, including the Banaue Rice Terraces, Puerto Princesa Underground River, to name a few and a coastline longer than that of the US," she said.

Travellers visiting the Philippines on a tailor made holiday could go to see the baroque churches of the destination, many of which - such as the San Agustin Church in Manila and the Santo Tomas de Villanueva Church in Iloilo - are also World Hertiage Sites.
