Tailor made holidays: Mombasa is a 'gateway' to rest of Kenya
Travellers planning to take tailor made holidays to Kenya should spend some days in the city of Mombasa, as it serves well as a base to explore the rest of the country.
Mombasa, which is the second-largest city in Kenya (behind the capital of Nairobi), is located on the southern coast of the country and has a brilliant climate for holiday-makers.
Angie Sloan, the director of the Kenya Tourist Board in the United Kingdom, said that the city can serve quite well as a "gateway" to the rest of the country.
"Mombasa is the gateway to 500 km of breathtaking Indian Ocean coastline with year round warm temperatures and is a great ... winter sun destination for British tourists," she said.
"In addition to providing a relaxing beach holiday haven, there are a range of activities to enjoy on Kenya's coast; from water sports and deep-sea fishing to whale watching and kite surfing."
Another thing that people can do when they are taking adventure holidays in Kenya is see the Big Five animals - elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino - on safari.
