'Cheap is never best' when it comes to travel insurance
People choosing travel insurance for a tailor made holiday should ensure they have sufficient cover for activities they will be doing, and should not focus too much on the price, according to Essential Travel.
Stuart Bensusan, who is co-founder and head of sales for the travel essentials provider, said that the key to any insurance policy is ensuring that you are covered where you need to be.
"Cheap is never best ... it's the cover you need to check," he said.
"You have to make sure that you have sufficient cover, but not just medical, baggage and cancellation, also sports cover [if you need it]."
Mr Bensusan added that another important thing people should check when taking out travel insurance is the underwriter, to ensure they are "reputable".
The company recently released research which showed that 40 per cent of holidaymakers take part in water sports activities without checking if they have adequate insurance..
Essential Travel is a company which offers all of the little things that make up a holiday, such as car hire, airport parking and travel insurance.
